Betty graduated from Sulphur High School. She then earned an associate degree from Lamar University and was a certified CNA. She worked various different jobs throughout her life but she was primarily a caregiver for many years. Betty cared for others passionately. She was faithful to God and it showed in all aspect of her life. She participated and served many churches, where ever she lived. She was devoted to her husband, Jimmy and deeply loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Carollee Broomes; father, Jack Linscomb and stepmother, Lillian Linscomb; mother, Lillie Mae Arledge and stepfather, Curtis Arledge; brother, Garry Linscomb and stepbrother, Freddie Cole.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jimmy Thompson; son, John Broomes and wife, Linda of Wichita, KS; daughter, Sande Lee of Midland, TX; grandchildren, Tyler Broomes and wife,Lauren of Winfield, KS; Alainna Janzen and husband, Luke, of Rose Hill, KS, Adam Broomes, of Wichita, KS, Claire Busenitz and husband, Vance of Vinton, VA, Eden Broomes of Wichita, KS, Noah Broomes of Wichita, KS, Sadie Evans of Midland, TX, Kevin Turner and wife, Wendy of Lubbock, TX, Jared Lee and wife, Reba of Midland, TX and Chase Lee and wife, ZulMarie of Williston, FL; great grandchildren, Miles, Rhett, Gage, Kinsley, Michael, Odessa Marie, M.C., and Loretta Echo; sister, Jackie Hawkins and husband, Mike of Stonewall, LA; sister-in-law, Wanda Linscomb of Glasgow, KY; step-siblings, Gail McInnis of Sulphur, LA, Jody Cole wife Jolene of Sulphur, LA and Becky Vincent of Kaplan, LA; along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A graveside celebration of life for Betty Jo will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Longstreet Memorial Cemetery, 290-316 Caddo Street, Longstreet, LA 71050.
