Aubrey Earl Sumpter, son of J.D. and Julia Sumpter, born December 21, 1918 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He passed on January 26, 2011 in Seminole at the age of 92 yrs and 36 days. Earl attended Asher, Oklahoma schools. He was a notable baseball player and was offered a contract with the St. Louis Cardinals but chose to marry Zoe. He was employed as an Undersheriff of Pottawatomie County for one year, and then took an accountant position with Gulf Oil in Seminole. He was then transferred to Kansas and then Tulsa. While working with Gulf Oil in Tulsa, Earl attended Tulsa University and earned his accounting degree with a 4.0 grade point average. Earl retired from Gulf Oil and returned to the Shawnee area. Earl was a marathon runner later in life, entering the Lake Hefner 26 mile marathon at age 70 and won 1st place in the 65-70 bracket. He studied Tae Kwon Do in his 80’s and earned a black belt. Earl was known for his generosity and always put his family first until his illness. Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Zoe; his son, Billy Earl; his brother Wade Jones and his sister Betty Moore. Earl is survived by his children; Wade Delano of Ada, Oklahoma and Scarlett O. Berger of Indio, California; Grandchildren, Wade Delano Jr. of McAlester, OK; Angela DeAngelo of Frisco, TX; Shae Lawler of Boca Raton, FL; Great grandchildren, Aaron Wade Sumpter of Ada, OK and Amanda Lee Sumpter of Ada, OK; Brother, T.J. Sumpter of Moore, OK and sister, Audie Lee. His visitaion will be Friday, January 28th from 8am to 8pm at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel.
