Mrs. Shekaramiz was born April 9, 1943 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, daughter of the late Weldon Sanderson and Ruah Walbridge Sanderson. Later in life she graduated from UNC Charlotte with a Bachelor's of Education then went on to obtain her Master's degree in Education. She was a retired teacher who loved to educate students in many different grades. Her favorite was teaching Science and Mathematics. During her recognition from Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, she was awarded the opportunity to be the first teacher involved in a school for homeless children. It was her desire to teach them the skills they needed to go into the world and be productive citizens despite their childhood. She had a huge heart, and was determined to give to the less fortunate. At Christmastime she and her family would distribute food and gifts to needy families. She loved the Lord and was a devout Christian who was a member of Gloryland Baptist Church in Charlotte where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a wonderful Sister, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother Aunt, and Friend who will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her children, Richard Norwood of Kannapolis, North Carolina and Jason Norwood of Carolina Shores, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Jennifer Norwood, Melissa Norwood, and Ashley Norwood; five great grandchildren, Kason Araujo, Wyatt Barbee, Noah Grooms, Lennon Sutton, and Charlotte Jolene Brown; one brother, Lawrence Sanderson of Gainesville, Georgia; and one sister, Debbie Case of Charlotte, North Carolina.
