He was born on June 17, 1945 in Newark, NJ the son of the late, Thomas F. Wittek and Deloras Cunningham Wittek and was preceded in death by a daughter, Jacqueline Erner; two brothers, Albert Wittek and Timothy Wittek.
In his youth he coached Pop Warner Football and Baseball, volunteering his time after work. He played football in High School and was Captain of his team. Briefly attended Villanova University in Villanova, PA, He enjoyed hunting in his youth. He was a project manager doing Industrial Pipe Fitting and belonged to the Pipe Fitter Union Local # 475 in New Jersey. After retiring in 1998 he and his wife moved to the Sunset Beach, NC, where he was able to enjoy boating, fishing, golfing, bowling and more family time. He was a member of St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Shallotte, NC; a member of the BPO Elks Calabash Chapter.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Frances E. Wittek of the home; a daughter, Stephanie R Jean and husband, Scott of Ash, NC; a brother, Richard X. Wittek of Woodbridge, NJ; three grandchildren, Tiffani Maxson of St. Petersburg, FL, Tyler J. Winter and Justin T. Winter of Ash, NC; two great-grandchildren; his special pets, “Gigi and Meme”.
A celebration of Mr. Wittek’s life will be held on Thursday June 23, 2016 at 1:00 in the afternoon at White Funeral and Cremation Service Shallotte Chapel.
A reception will follow at the Pink Palace in Sea Trail Plantation Sunset Beach, NC.
