A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 7, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., in Sequim, for Sequim resident Jack Gamet Lyons, who died Oct. 22, 2012, at the age of 87. The Rev. Robert Rhoads officiates; burial of ashes will be in the columbarium at St. Luke’s.
He was born Jan. 8, 1925, in Sioux City, Iowa, to William Irl and Fanchon Gamet Lyons.
He served in the U.S. Army in the European theater during World War II. He attended Scottsbluff Junior College and the University of Kentucky.
He married Dorothy Bruett in 1948 in Scottsbluff, Neb. She preceded him in death in 1974.
In October 1975 he married Evelyn Witschy Goldfain.
He was a partner in the Wyoming News Company in Worland, Wyo., for 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Lyons.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Lyons, of Sequim; sisters Polly Ferguson, of Salida, Colo., and Sara Hippe, of Lincoln, Neb.; stepsister Susan Kautz, of Sheridan, Wyo.; sons and daughters-in-law Bill and Jean Lyons of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Mark and Diana Lyons of Bridgeville, Pa.; four stepchildren, 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and nine nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church Memorial Fund.
