Mrs. Breaux was my 2nd grade teacher 26 years ago. I have never forgotten her and her enormous contribution to my education and my spirit. 

Though I never knew her middle name,I gave my own daughter the middle name Joy 10 years ago.  It seems my family will carry on a bit of her spirit with the next generation.

Staci & Daryl - The celebration of life for your mom yesterday was beautiful. I didn't expect to leave feeling uplifted and joyful, but listening to stories, the message, and most of all the MUSIC left me with a happy peace for my dear friend, Wanda. I really wanted to go up and speak at the mic about how much she has meant to me over the years, but my nerves got the best of me. I was one of the very lucky college students who got to be placed in Wanda's care for their student teaching experience. I never told your mom this, but I bribed the placement coordinator to get in her room! :) Your mom was legendary at my University as being one of the greats you wanted to work with. A well written card and plate of homemade cookies was all it took to get the edge on being placed with your mom. She taught me things far beyond the classroom. I remember bringing the young man I was dating to see her a few times. She really liked him and thought we were a good match. When I confided in her one day that I was thinking of breaking up with him to see what else was out there, she put her foot down and told me in no uncertain terms that he was a good man and those don’t come along everyday and that I better not dare break up with him. This past summer I celebrated 20 years of marriage with that same young man and like your mom, we have two beautiful daughters. When we got married, your mom had a place of honor up in front during the ceremony. She never let me forget how she stopped me from making a big mistake all those years ago. Anytime over the past few years that I’ve put family photos on Facebook, there was sure to appear a comment from her about how she TOLD me not let that man go. :) I will miss your mom fiercely. Maybe when I get to see her again one day we’ll take that trip to the zoo she had been promising over the phone or we’ll get those puppies she promised to bring to me. (She also promised me 2 million dollars, but I doubt that will mean much up in heaven.)

My condolences to the whole family. I'm so honored to be a part of your family. You all always made me feel welcomed and loved. I am so glad that I got to see her last year for my 40th birthday. It felt so good to be able to share my special day with her and family. I will always and forever have plenty memories to carry me through. She will be missed dearly. I will keep everyone in my prayers. I love you all.

She will always be in my memory as a teenager when I first met her to the wonderful woman she grew up to be. Her kindness and generosity, love for people and animals will be remembered by me when I think of her. Rest in Gods grace Wanda

Know that your mother, and my friend will be truly missed. She was such a kind and wonderful person and so giving. I will cherish all the memories we all shared together, choir, drill team, ball games, cooking classes, track, the grandkids, the Sunday afternoon visits and just life in general.   As I write these condolences and since your moms passing the words of the song from the movie "Cooley High" have been on my heart ... "It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday", but I will take with me the memories to be my sunshine after the rain; it's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday".  On days when things get hard, remember to take with you the memories of her to be your sunshine after the rain!! Auntie

It was an honor to work with Wanda as a coworker/teacher and a parent. She was such an amazing person to talk to, share ideas and wisdom with  and cut laminated stuff with. Thank you Wanda ❤️

Wanda was always such a joy to be around.  As young people, we grew up together (her & her sister Barbara) at People’s Institutional Baptist Church.  She had a kind spirit, loved the Lord and took good care of her mother Mrs. Mae Francis Wilburn.  Such a devoted daughter, mother and friend.  Rest in Peace my friend🙏

Wanda was my very good, good friend for more than 30 years.  Wanda and I sang in FAME choir for the majority of those years. She was so special to me and I will miss her so much. "Boss!" Wanda would say...right up until the week she passed away!  She and Sally May were the only two who ever called me Boss!  Oh my goodness...this is a very, very sad loss.  Wanda Joy Breaux was one of the most amazing educators I've ever known....and had the great pleasure of evaluating 🥰!  Wanda worked tirelessly to make 2nd grade a fabulous year!  Her creativity,  attention to detail, and daily desire for students' academic, social and emotional growth was at the highest levels.  She loved having parent volunteers and student teachers.  Everyone felt valued in Rm 206!  And everyone was given a meaningful part!
Wanda Joy Breaux...your passing leaves a huge hole in our world...but your presence was a blessing and a huge gift.  Pretty sure you've found many important ways to brighten days in heaven.  Sending bunches of love to you, and those who will hold you in our hearts, forever ♥️ ❤️ 💖!
