Marie was born in Bogota, Tennessee, the third of seven children. Newly married, she came to Seattle with her husband in 1945. She was a longtime resident of Ballard, and worked in restaurants in the surrounding area for 34 years. She was an avid crocheter. At last count, there were at least 200 afghan throws that she made and donated to friends, neighbors, and shelters.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, and two daughters, Gina Tronson (Jerry) and Donna Goodwin (Chuck). She is survived by her daughter Patricia Shallow (Marty), son Mark Sheldon, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank her neighbors and friends for all the prayers, caring thoughts, and for the help over the past couple of years. They would also like to give a very special thanks to the Hiljoy Homes staff who were wonderful and made the last few months a bit easier. Joanne, you are a special angel.
