He was born and raised in Lake Forest Park, Washington. He married his high school sweetheart, Diane, after finally convincing her to go on a date after buying dozens of bottles of soda pop at a booth she was manning at Seafair in 1955.
He spent several years in the U.S. Navy, then attended and graduated from the University of Washington in 1962.
He was a life long “car” guy who turned his passion into a career in auto parts sales. He worked as a salesman for Fremont Electric and then Carquest. Despite a sales territory that spanned most of the northwest corner of Washington, he always made it home for dinner with his family.
He spent many years active in the Masonic fraternities. He was a member and Past Master of Richmond Lodge No. 248 ( now Shoreline Lodge) , previous Dad Advisor for Richmond Chapter DeMolay, Past Royal Patron Richmond Court Amaranth, Past Associate Guardian Job’s Daughters Bethel #54, Past Associate Grand Guardian Job’s Daughters of Washington, he was honored with the 33 degree in Scottish Rite and was a member of The Nile Shriners.
He touched the lives of many through this work in the Masonic fraternities. His ease for public speaking led to being called on to take the lead in ritual and other events.
Despite a gruff exterior at times, he cared deeply for those around him and more then a few young men and women have expressed how they thought of him as a father figure.
For his children and grandchildren, this is not a surprise as he always had a hug and unconditional love for them. Their accomplishments and activities were always part of his conversations.
His companion Sophie brought him fun and laughter along with wonderful memories of travel and adventure. Far and near, they found laughter and joy in car rides, trips, wood working projects and vintage TV programs.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Diane Lindeman Adams. He is survived by his girlfriend Sophie, his children John (Toni) and Cindy (Julio) and grandchildren Julio, Carlos, Abby and Jack.
Due to the current pandemic, the immediate family will hold a private graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance or Hospice.
