Max Morgan passed away June 18, 2021 in Bothell WA. Born in Oregon in 1937, he grew up in Roseburg, Oregon and went on to attend Oregon State University, University of Arizona and was briefly in the military service through ROTC in the US Army before starting an Engineering career at TRW in California.
He moved to Washington State in 1971 to work for Honeywell Marine Systems. While there he authored a book on vessel dynamic positioning and moved to Norway to work on a project with his family for 7 months. In 1979 he started an engineering solutions firm. The firm did well and was sold in 1995, he remained in the business in a leadership role until retirement.
He had three children: Leslie, Andy, and Jeff and he was a gentle and caring father. For many years, he coached youth soccer and played as an adult. He loved skiing, golf and traveled extensively for fun and business. He was an avid reader and was keen on books about history and science & technology. Max was always remembered for being a very kind and soft-spoken man, he was widely admired and liked by friends, neighbors and colleagues.
In retirement he and his late wife, Jane Dowdle, continued to travel and he tutored math and physics at Juanita High School.
He is survived by his three children, four grandchildren, Jane’s three living children, their families, and his brother Paul Morgan and family.
He and Jane are laid to rest at Abbey View Cemetery in Brier, Washington.
