He was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on October 26 1987, to Joanne M. Walls and James C. Conuel.
His family moved back to Seattle when he was 1 years old and grew up in Seattle and Shoreline, WA. He attended Parkwood Elementary, Einstein Middle School and Shorewood High School, graduating in 2006. He was a mostly happy baby, looking and smiling at everyone unless something was wrong. When he learned to talk, He could could talk and talk, telling his every thought. He went on to become a fast reader.
Throughout his school years he was an avid skateboarder, ranging far and wide with his friends. He played recreation level soccer, basketball, and baseball. Later, he enjoyed snowboarding, traveling, bicycling, pool and billiards.
He went on to the University of Washington, majored in history, and graduated in 2010. His mother, Joanne Walls, passed away unexpectedly on November 3, 2007 and he dropped out for a quarter of his sophomore year. He returned to UW and briefly joined a fraternity and lived in a large house full of students; For an only child this was a lively but distracting learning experience.
During his later college years he worked part time at various jobs, such as Bartell's Drugs, food delivery by bicycle, and other part time work. Eventually, he began his computer/tech career with DataSite Northwest, where delivering digital backup tapes led him to a few years working for Digital Fortress, a data storage company. From there he went on to about 7 years with NetSuite Oracle building, maintaining and then managing server room staff.
Joe was never married, but lived for 4 years with Kim H., and for a few years with Kimberly H. His was still in touch with his neighborhood pals John W. and Neil S.
He is survived by his father James C. Conuel of Shoreline, WA and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother Joanne Marie Walls.
A Celebration of Life ceremony to honor Joe will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 1:00 PM at the Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home & Cemetery, 11111 Aurora Avenue N., Seattle, Washington 98133.
