Isobel was born on August 5, 1942 in Kirkland, Washington, to Bill and Nancy Woods.
Her family moved to Yakima, Washington, in 1946 and she attended schools there until graduation in 1960 from Davis High School. Many of her classmates from these years have remained lifelong friends. She attended the University of Washington where she received a BA in English in 1964 and an MLS (Library Science) in 1967.
After a one-year stint as a high school English teacher in the Highline District, she found her true calling and had a long and rewarding career at the King County Library System (1967-2000). She started as a children's librarian, continued as Manager of Collection Development and as a Regional Coordinator. She was a member of the Director's Administrative Council.
It was at KCLS she met and married her husband, Gregg Schiller, in 1979. Two wonderful children, Heidi and Eric, soon followed and the family settled into home and community life in Bothell. She was a long-time active member of the Woodinville Unitarian Universalist Church.
Isobel will be remembered for her love and concern for her family and her passion for books and libraries as well as her welcoming and caring personality.
Isobel is survived by her husband Gregg Schiller, daughter Heidi Schiller, son Eric Schiller as well as her siblings Gordon Woods, Ron Woods and Jean Dashtestani.
