Age 90, born February 26, 1918 in Ballard, Washington passed away peacefully October 22, 2008 in Seattle.
Hazel's grandparents Anders and Annie Skotdal emigrated from Norway and settled in Ballard where they established City Dairy. Her father Ole Skotdal inherited the dairy in 1917. She grew up in the farmhouse built by her grandfather which today is a historic landmark and one of the few unaltered farmhouses in Seattle. Hazel graduated from Ballard High School in 1936 and was proud to be a Golden Ballard Beaver. She was a Ballard Pioneer and member of the Broadview Historical Society where she shared many memories. She has written several journals that chronicles her youth and the growth of the area.
Preceded in death by husband of 65 years Fred Cornelius and daughter Joan Webber. Survived by son Fred Cornelius Jr. and wife Patricia, son Scott Cornelius and Christina of Seattle, daughter Ann Sperry of Everett, grandchildren Alison and Jason Cornelius of Seattle, Brantly Webber, Erica Webber Mendez and husband Paul; great grandsons Austin and Jason Mendez all of Lynnwood; sister Lucy Skotdal Weygant of Seattle; many cousins, nieces, nephews and good friends who admired and loved her.

The light from our family is gone.
A voice we loved is still.
A place is vacant in the home.
