Frank John John Reh Jr.

F. John Reh, Jr. was born on October 12, 1946 at Great Lakes Naval Station to Frank J. and Louise M. Reh and died in his sleep on January 22, 2014. John grew up at Navy bases in Illinois, Virginia, Connecticut, New York, Maryland, California, Washington, and Hawaii and attended the U.S. Naval Academy before graduating from the University of Washington with a B.S. in oceanography. After graduation, he lived in southern California, where he sailed aboard the Glomar Challenger, mapping the ocean floors. The work took him to the eastern Mediterranean and allowed him time off to visit Egypt and Saudi Arabia. While living in San Diego, John met his sweetheart Candice, and they were married in April 1978. John returned to the Seattle area 10 years later and had a successful management career in several industries as well as consulting and writing a column on the art and science of management for About.com.

John's interest in travel continued through the years, and he and Candice travelled abroad frequently, including a National Geographic tour of Egypt and most recently a cruise in the Baltic Sea; he was looking forward to his 50th high school reunion in Hawaii later this year. John continued the family tradition of baking his Austrian grandmother's lebkuchen and stollen at Christmas-time and even improved the stollen recipe by using dried fruit instead of candied. He entertained his nieces and nephews with corny jokes and didn't treat them like kids, making them feel grown-up with a special handshake. For recreation, John sliced his way through many of the world's finest golf courses, including Torrey Pines, St. Andrew's, and old and new Hawaiian favorites

John is survived by his loving wife Candice and daughter Beth; siblings Mary, Pat (Tom), Maggie, Dan (Zina), and Chris (Karen); and a large extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and his aunt Charlotte. John will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Acacia Funeral Home, Seattle. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation.
