Dorothy Watkins Marlowe, age 110, passed away peacefully March 10, 2018 in Logan, Utah where she had lived the last two years at Maple Springs Retirement Home. She was born on May 22, 1907 to Mark and Dorothy Watkins in Logan, Utah. She had an older sister Norma and a younger brother who passed away at birth.
Dorothy attended Utah State University. She joined Sorosis sorority and received a bachelors degree in Education and Home Economics. She taught Home Economics and English in schools in Idaho and Utah.
In the summer of 1931 Dorothy traveled to Seattle to attend the University of Washington and visit her sister, Norma. The first week there she met a young dentist, Clifford D. Marlowe, at a dance. They were married on September 21, 1933. They made their home and raised their family in the Laurelhurst area of Seattle for 83 years. Last May she celebrated her 110th birthday and became the oldest person living in Utah.
Dorothy was a Harriet Stimson Guild member for the Children's Orthopedic Hospital and a member of the Women's University Club. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved to read, play bridge and travel throughout the world with her sister.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford, in 1974. She is survived by her children Portia Bean, Shoreline, WA, June Christopherson, Redmond, WA and Richard (Verna) Marlowe, Logan, UT, 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will observe a private service and burial Saturday, March 17, at Acacia Memorial Park in Seattle, WA.
