It is with immense sadness that we announce our son, Derek Clinton Mallory, passed away the morning of 12/24/2021, Christmas eve, at 8 a.m. He had battled several health challenges the last couple of years.
Derek was 39. He was born on February 20, 1982, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He went on to graduate from Southridge High School, Kennewick, WA, in 2000. He graduated from WSU Tri-Cities where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business.
Derek was gifted in many ways, highly intelligent, and great with numbers especially finances. He loved real estate, managing properties and had a successful career in the field of Project Management.
He played guitar and multiple sports when he was younger. He enjoyed playing golf when he could hit them straight. He played kick ball on a team in Seattle for a few years and could really hold his own at a Texas Hold’em poker table. Not everyone knew that he also loved to sing karaoke. He was the very “serious type”, but he sure liked to belt out a tune on occasion. He enjoyed live music, concerts, and music festivals. Despite his fear of flying, he enjoyed traveling to new places and having new experiences.
Derek had a large group of friends and family who loved him unconditionally. He is survived by his parents, Kevin and Lisa Mallory, brother Ryan, nephew Easton, grandparents, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A service will be held January 14, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. @ Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery, 6701 30th Ave. SW, Seattle. Then a Celebration of Life in the Tri-Cities at West Richland Golf course Event Center, 4000 Fallon Dr., West Richland, WA from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday January 15, 2022.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Action Against Hunger (https://www.actionagainsthunger.org/) an organization has been committed to ending hunger for nearly 40 years.
