David Allen Stone

David Allen Stone, age 47, died September 30, 2022, after a valiant two year battle against non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 22 years, Weiguang Cui and children Audrey Zhiai and David Zhixian Stone of Seattle, Washington; his parents, Henry and Sue Stone and brother, Robert John Stone of Colbert, Georgia; his wife’s family: parents-in-law Xiangyang Cui and Xiuhua Teng and sisters-in-law Weirong Cui and Weiwei Cui and their families of Harbin, China; uncle and aunt, James and Mary Knighton; aunt, Vivian Michael; uncle, Howard Stone; and numerous cousins. He is predeceased by his grandparents Robert and Lucille Stone and Perry and Pauline Knighton; aunt, Hazel Carmichael; aunts, Virginia and Marion Stone; uncles, Robert and Harmon Stone.

David graduated from Cedar Shoals High School and the University of Georgia. Upon graduating from UGA, David traveled to Harbin, China, where he met his future wife, Weiguang Cui, while teaching English and studying Chinese. After 2 years, he returned to the US to complete a Masters Degree at St. John’s College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He then returned to Shenyang, China, where he taught English and studied Chinese for another two years. During this time he married Weiguang, the love of his life. Afterwards, David and Weiguang returned to Washington, DC, where David worked for the East Asia and Pacific division of Voice of America. They later moved to Seattle, Washington, where David completed a Masters Degree in Classical Chinese Literature at the University of Washington and worked in the linguistics technical industry.

David enjoyed reading, cooking, and gardening, but most of all his family. He instilled the love of reading, game playing, and nature in his children. He was their consummate teacher. Every weekend included an adventure which he and Guang planned with the children.

After being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, David once again showed his giving nature by participating in experimental trials and contributing as much as possible to lymphoma research through Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and the University of Washington Medical Center.
