David Roger Myers

David Roger Myers, 49, was born on March 4, 1963 in Sacramento, California. He passed away on January 23, 2013 in his home in Seattle, Washington. He is survived by his parents, Roger and Barbara Myers, his sister, Wendy Shaw, and his daughter, Brooke Myers.

David had a long, successful career working as a construction manager for the University of Washington. He managed the construction of such buildings as the Harborview Hospital, Dempsey Hall for the Business School, and the Odegaard Undergraduate Library. These were all important projects to help the University of Washington accomplish its mission and David was a big part of that.

Aside from work, David loved to travel, spend time with family, hang out with friends, and simply enjoy life. He lived life to the fullest. He had the opportunity to visit six countries in his lifetime as well as many of the 50 States. During these adventures he was able to fulfill his lifelong dream of seeing a great white shark (his favorite animal) as well as see the Eifel tower, backpack through Vietnam and go on a safari in South Africa. Many of these adventures were shared with his daughter, Brooke, and created many lasting memories for both of them.

Even though David’s family was spread out, he made it a point to visit them all frequently, making trips to Hawaii to visit his parents, and recently surprising his sister for a zip lining adventure for her birthday.

When not traipsing around the globe and the continental US, David spent a lot of time with his many friends in the Seattle area. He enjoyed going to Huskies games, Mariner’s games, and pretty much any game available to him. He loved to laugh and make people laugh and his memorable sense of humor will be greatly missed.

Along with his good-humored spirit, David was incredibly generous. He spent many a Thanksgiving spending his day making and handing out sandwiches to the homeless. He was quick to give to anyone in need, whether financially or simply with his time.

David will be greatly missed by both his family and friends. A Celebration of David’s Life is scheduled on Saturday, March 23, 2013 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Courtyard Marriot Hotel, 31910 Gateway Center Blvd South, Federal Way, Washington
