David K. Leong, aged 94, passed away on March 17, 2024, at Kin On Nursing Facility. He was born in Taishan County, China, on January 16, 1930, where he began a journey marked by quiet strength.
David lived a long life filled with remarkable resilience. At a very young age he lost his mother, then during World War II, he lost his father as he courageously fought to save his family. Despite the challenges he faced, he graduated high school and pursued a profound understanding of Chinese herbs and medicine, showcasing his deep-rooted passion for healing and wellness.
In 1968, David emigrated to the United States, where he was able to work as a cook at his sister’s restaurant in Ephrata, Washington. He was able to help prepare meals that brought happiness to many within the community. In 1970, David married, and in 1972 moved to Seattle and worked at another restaurant until retirement.
David lived his life quietly, without pursuing many grand ambitions, yet found contentment and humility in his everyday existence. Despite not chasing after big dreams, he embraced life with gratitude and simplicity, finding fulfillment in the small moments and the love of his family.
In 2009, David experienced a profound spiritual transformation when he embraced his faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized on August 9, 2009, marking a significant milestone in his life. He always had a bright smile when he was around his grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life.
He is survived by his son, Lesley Leong, his daughter-in-law, Annie Leong, and his grandchildren, Faith, Kaitlyn, and Micah.
Although no public memorial service will be held for David K. Leong, we want to make sure to honor our loved one by cherishing the memories he has left with us and the love he shared with those closest to him.
