Cheryl Lynn Yates, 68, peacefully entered into heaven after a long yet courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease on Thursday, April 19, 2019 in Kirkland, WA. She was born in 1950 in Florida to Theo and Marjorie Griffin. As a child, her family relocated to Colorado where she became active at her church, Eastside Baptist, in Denver. Cheryl first met Stephen Yates while witnessing his baptism in March of 1968, during his military stay at Fort Lowry. Graduating high school, Cheryl married Steve in December 1969. They were blessed with three children before the family relocated from Colorado to Washington State in 1983. A quiet servant, Cheryl was always actively serving in various church ministries and community groups, including Ethiopian refugee support and prison ministry. Her passions and interests graciously and naturally gave opportunity for her to connect with many, through gardening, dog training, dancing, and community events, most recently within the Snohomish and Monroe Senior Centers and the Parkinson’s community.
She is survived by her husband, Stephen, their three children and spouses, their ten grandchildren and two dogs.
In lieu of flowers, Cheryl requested donations be sent in honor of her to: https://www.apdaparkinson.org
