Charles Worth Shull was born in Tacoma, WA on March 2, 1951 to Charles Lowell and Abbie Jean (Durham) Shull. He was the fourth child in a family of five children. He attended Roosevelt Grade School, Gault Jr High and graduated from Lincoln High School (Tacoma) in 1969. He attended Washington State University and Puget Sound College of the Bible. He married Alice Horner in 1972 and they later divorced. He worked in the restaurant industry for several years. He married Barbara Ewart in 1988. He attended Lake Washington Vo-Tech and graduated in 1995 as a Nurseryman and began working at Sky Nursery.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Barbara; his sons Dustin (Kim) and Devin (fiancé, Ella); two grandsons Kai and Kollin; his sisters Carillon Olmsted, Judie (Mike) Crouse, Kaye Lovelace and his brother Jonathon (Karen) Shull; his great aunts Hazel and Gerda Shull; seven nieces and nephews, eight great nieces and nephews along with numerous Durham and Shull cousins.
He worked at Sky Nursery for 21 years and enjoyed teaching seasonal seminars and pond building classes. He loved plants and landscaping. He was active in sports and participated in coaching youth soccer and baseball. He loved his Huskies, Sounders, Mariners and Seahawks. He was hard working, kind, helpful, loving and a doting Papa. He enjoyed cooking, especially for his family. He was a voracious reader and did crossword puzzles daily. He was a wonderful storyteller. Driving his ’69 Chevy truck gave him pleasure.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 22,2016 at 1 PM at Lake Forest Park Civic Club, 17301 Beach Drive NE, Lake Forest Park WA 98155.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research or the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society in honor of Charlie Shull.
