With heavy hearts, we are sad to report the passing of Chip Foltz, age 53, on March 20, 2025. Though his life was marked by challenge and hardship, he was deeply loved by his family and will be forever missed.
Born on November 18, 1971 to Muriel Hastings and Benson White in Heidelburg, Germany, Chip faced numerous setbacks and challenges throughout his life.
Despite these struggles, he possessed a gentle spirit, an ironic sense of humor and a sensitive heart, which those closest to him knew well. He did his best to be a good son and sibling and will be remembered for the contributions he was able to make to our lives.
Like many people in 21st century America, Chip struggled with addiction, a battle that ultimately claimed his life. Though his passing was a result of this illness, we remember him not for his struggles, but for the moments of tenderness and love he shared with his family. He was a son, a brother, and an uncle, and his sober presence brought warmth and connection to those around him.
He leaves behind his grieving mother, brother and sister, a loving niece and two nephews. They will forever hold dear the memories of the better moments they shared.
We hope that in remembering Chip, we can also bring awareness to the devastating impact of addiction. May his story serve as a reminder of the importance of compassion, understanding, and support for those battling this disease.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Big Brothers and Big Sisters in Chip's memory.
A private memorial service will be held for family and close friends.
