Brian Edward Tyl, a dedicated and loving father, husband, son, brother, uncle, and son-in-law, passed away unexpectedly on December 17, 2023, surrounded by the water and mountains he loved.
Brian was born on November 7, 1973, in North Little Rock, Arkansas but spent most of his early life in Kingston, Tennessee. Brian excelled both academically and athletically throughout his life. He served as class President, graduating 4th in his class. As a high school senior, he was selected to work with the US Department of Energy on a document project.
Brian graduated magna cum laude from Michigan State University (MSU). While attending MSU, he met his first wife and not long after graduating, they relocated to the Pacific Northwest as he had a strong affinity for the outdoors.
Brian’s professional career in Human Resources for healthcare and service companies speaks to the unwavering commitment he had to help others. Brian volunteered for many organizations in the Edmonds community; Edmonds Marina Beach Off-Leash Dog Park (the ‘Woofie’ station he created with his daughter is displayed there), Edmonds Food Bank, and Northwest Neighbors, which assists the elderly, to name a few.
Brian lived life with a relentless curiosity and thirst for adventure. His creativity was unsurpassed and lives on through his daughters. He enjoyed cooking and his culinary skills were prominent in every meal. Brian defined wealth not in terms of financial gain but in terms of the impact he could have on making the people around him happy. He will be dearly missed by all those who had the fortune to feel his love.
Brian is survived by his wife Cindy Price; daughters Mayze and Daphne Tyl and their Mom, Nichole Fernkes; parents Judith and Edward Tyl of Harriman, TN; sister Jacqueline (Jimmy and Theo) of Palm City, FL; mother-in-law Deanna Price of Tacoma, WA and many other family and friends.
If you would like to honor Brian's life and legacy, please consider donating to a cause he believed in or the organization who searched and brought him home.
