Barbara Jeanne (Blair) Johnson

Barbara Jeanne Blair Johnson, a beloved wife, mother was promoted to glory on January 24, 2024, at the age of 86 in Lynnwood, WA. Born on October 18, 1937, in Seattle, WA, to Donald and Marguerite (Brown) Blair, Barbara leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion.

Barbara's educational journey took her through Interlake Elementary, Hamilton Junior High, and Lincoln High School, where she graduated in 1955. She pursued higher education at Seattle Pacific College for one year before dedicating herself to working full-time to support her husband Jim through his college years.

Her professional journey included a 12-year tenure as an executive secretary at Johnson Insurance Agency. Later, she served as the Executive Assistant to the President of Seattle Pacific University. After a period away, Barbara returned to Johnson Insurance, where she continued until her retirement alongside Jim in 1996.

A woman of deep faith, Barbara's greatest joy in life was her relationship with the Lord, which radiated through her love for Jim and their four children. She was known for her hospitality, a keen eye for interior design, and a passion for entertaining family and friends. Barbara's love for opera, reading, and tending to her garden showcased her diverse interests. A compassionate listener and counselor, she led numerous women's Bible studies, including a decade-long commitment at Jefferson Terrace. Barbara was also a proud member of Sigma Rho.

Barbara and Jim's journey began with their first date in July of 1951, leading to a cherished union on December 15, 1956, in Seattle, WA. Together, they embraced a life filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. Their bond remained unbroken even in the face of sorrow, as their grandson Troy Johnson preceded them in death.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband Jim, children Greg (Cindy), Brad (Cindy), Heidi (Gunnar), and Rob (Polly), as well as her sister Kathleen (Blair) Mayhle. Her memory lives on in the hearts of 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, with three more great-grandchildren on the way.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 2nd, at 1:00 pm at Seattle First Free Methodist Church, located at 3200 3rd Ave W, Seattle, WA 98119. A reception in the Fine Center will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in remembrance of Barb to Operation Nightwatch or New Horizons, organizations close to her heart. Barbara's kindness, grace, and unwavering faith will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
