She was born on January 5, 1943 in Waco, TX to Catharine and Frank Ferguson. Sharron was raised in Mount Calm, TX and San Antonio, TX. She graduated from Highlands High School in 1960 and married James Thomason the same year. Though this relationship was not permanent, they did have two children together and remained friends afterwards. Sharron married Robert Groesbeck in 1990. She was an adjuster for Allstate where she worked for more than 20 years.
In her spare time, Sharron enjoyed crafts, Vacation Bible School, and scuba diving in her younger days. Sharron made scrapbooks for her grandchildren, and gave them to each one on their 16th birthday. Sharron and Robert created elaborate VBS props for many years for their church. They also enjoyed painting themed exam rooms for Kaleidoscope Kids, their daughter’s pediatric office. The paintings will leave a legacy, as they bring joy and comfort to children and adults alike.
Sharron’s family and friends will always remember her as a kind person who loved her family fiercely. She was the best pie maker and would bring so many pies to holiday gatherings. Grandkids remember the amazing breakfasts of pancakes and cheese eggs, the selection spread across the table for grandkids to make any and every sandwich they could create, no matter how large, the ice cream sundaes before bed, and watching ice skating, Wheel of Fortune and America’s Got Talent. The grandchildren will always cherish spending a week each summer going to VBS with Granny and Grumps, and spending a week again during Christmas break with them. Family and friends alike will remember the big July 4th celebrations at their house, and how much she loved the fireworks. Sharron loved flowers especially yellow roses, watching hummingbirds on the back patio, and spending time watching Hallmark movies with Robert.
