Saundra Louise Featherston was born December 12, 1941, in Paris, Texas to the parents, Willard Franklin and Hassie Pearl Lane. She grew up in a Christian home with her loving family and attended schools in Paris, Texas.
Saundra went on to meet the love of her life, Robert Lee Featherston, and the two married in Dallas, Texas. They would go on to begin their family in 1964. They raised their two children in a home on Crest Ridge Drive, in Mesquite, Texas where many wonderful memories were made. They raised their boys well and attended the Mesquite Church of God as a family, where she made wonderful friends.
She loved and adored her family, always putting God and her family first in her life. She loved cooking. Always with gospel music playing in the background, especially Jimmy Swaggart and The Gaithers. She always wanted to feed everyone, making every meal absolutely delicious! She would cook for an army, even if it was just a small crowd. She took that love of cooking and channeled it into her job working in North Mesquite High School’s lunch room where she was over the concession stand. With Saundra around, no student had to miss a meal.
Her last few years, she made many friends at Mabank Nursing Center where she got outstanding care!
Saundra is survived by her sons, Robert “Robby” Lee Featherston, Jr. and wife, Teresa, and Rodney Lane Featherston and wife, Jetta; grandchildren, Julia Butler, Jordan Featherston, Gabby Featherston, Luke Sloan, and Tara Sloan; along with six great-grandchildren; her siblings Virginia Ford and Willard Franklin Lane Jr, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and loving friends.
Saundra went to be with the lord on October 8, 2024, in Athens Texas. Greeting Saundra in Heaven were her parents, Willard Sr. and Hassie Lane; her loving husband, Robert L. Featherston Sr; brother, William Lane, and sister, Edith Jo Baggett.
Her colorful spirit will always be remembered by all those who knew and loved her.
A funeral service for Saundra will be held Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Roselawn Funeral Home with a committal service following in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens where her earthly body will be laid to rest next to that of her beloved husband.
