Ruby was married to Charlie Davis for 51 years, and while she never had children of her own, she adored her niece, Sharon, who considered Ruby her “other mother.” To Sharon and her many great and great-great nieces and nephews, Ruby was “Aunt Irv,” a name that stuck after a young Sharon nicknamed her “Ruben” and then “Rubendale” and then “Irvendale,” which eventually morphed into “Irv.” Even in her aging years, Irv maintained an infectious sense of humor, and it was common to witness her sipping her favorite libation, Coors Light, while entertaining her family at gatherings. Never one to shy from occasional profanity, Irv was as fun-loving as they come. She enjoyed riding on the back of her husband’s motorcycle in Colorado and visiting Cedar Creek Lake. An animal lover, Irv spent her younger years with a menagerie of cats, dogs, chickens, peacocks, and horses. Irv’s best friend was her younger sister, Joyce, who passed away in 2019. We are hopeful they are together, somewhere, chuckling and gossiping as they often did in life.
Ruby is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Davis, seven beloved brothers and sisters, and her parents, Eddie and Daisy Ford. She is survived by her brother, Bobby Joe Ford; her sister-in-law, Sandra Ford; her brother-in-law, James Rasberry; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and loving friends.
We will miss Aunt Irv’s unconditional love, quirky shenanigans, and genuine affection for life.
