Ruben Rodriguez

He was born on September 5, 1933 in Taylor, Texas to Domitila Mendiola and Venancio Rodriguez. Ruben was raised in Austin, Texas. He married Felipa Robles in 1997, and the couple had one child. He was a presser at Capitol Cleaners for over 45 years.

In his spare time, Ruben enjoyed spending time with his wife, who he often referred to as "grandma" or "mama". Especially when they were outside gardening, planting plants as well as singing his heart out to the Lord in choir. Ruben loved serving the Lord, studying as much as he could about GOD and spreading the word to those who would listen. He also loved dancing and being a big goofball when the grandkids were around - anything to get a good laugh.

He will always be remembered for all his laughs, bear hugs, and unconditional love he gave to those special enough to have crossed his path during his life here on Earth. He always gave advice, and listened with no judgement - just understanding. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandpa to all his family. Even friends, neighbors and church members were all family in Ruben's eyes.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Venancio Rodriguez and Domitila Mendiola; and his daughter, Maria Lena Alvarado.

Ruben is survived by his loving wife, Felipa Rodriguez; his grandchildren, Diana Ferreira (and husband Fernando H. Ferreira), Jose Ricardo Alvarado, Angelica Alvarado-Coleman (and husband Lesley Coleman), and Olivia Alvarado; great grandchildren, Alicia Ferreira, Caitlin Ferreira, Jose Alvarado Jr., Alyssa Mathews, Junior Mathews, Lailah Alvarado-Coleman, Elliot Oliver Alvarado-Graham, and Mason Smith; and great-great grandchildren, Jordan Keanu Reyes, and Joji Kamila Reyes.

He will be deeply missed by all.
