Ray was born on September 29, 1956 in New Orleans, Louisiana to George Washington Jr. and Eloise B. Davis. He would go on to graduate from Alcée Fortier High School in Uptown New Orleans in 1975 before joining the US Army in 1978 where he served as a Private short range missile crewman as part of the 1/506th infantry 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, KY.
He later returned home to Louisiana where he studied at Grambling State University. Eventually Ray moved to Texas for a change of pace and fresh opportunities. He initially stayed with some family down in Houston before eventually making his way to DFW.
Most recently, Ray worked as the director of facilities maintenance and housekeeping for Mesquite Tree Nursing Center in Mesquite, Texas where he met Sandra Sheather in 2008. In 2012 the couple would cement their love with an unity ceremony before officially marring on 3.13.2013.
Ray was raised Catholic and following the beginning of his health struggles, re-devoted his life to the lord. He loved his faith, his hometown of New Orleans, his family, and his NOLA Saints. He loved his fellow veterans and was truly grateful for the VA hospital and health system for the care they have provided him over the years.
Greeting him at the gates of Heaven were his Parents George Jr. and Eloise Davis.
