Phyllis Ann Warren, age 77, of Kaufman, Texas, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 11, 2024. She was born on August 18, 1947, in Dallas, Texas, to Veda and Walter Warren and was raised in Kleberg, Texas. Phyllis married Arthur Paul Thomas in 1959, and together they had two children, creating a family that she cherished deeply.
Phyllis had a zest for life that was as bold as it was warm. In her spare time, she loved gathering with her family, often on the front porch, enjoying the simple pleasures of a warm breeze and a salted Corona. Her spirit was as lively as the sunsets she admired, and her heart was as fiery as it was big. Phyllis was known for her candid nature—never one to sugarcoat her words, she was the first to speak her mind with an honesty that both disarmed and charmed those around her. Those who knew her will always remember her as the feisty, spicy heart and soul of any gathering.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Kellan, and daughter Deveda. Phyllis is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Jerry Tabors; her brother Bobby and his wife Janice; and her sister Gail and her husband Mike. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren—Baletta, Jimmy, Cassidy, and Ray—as well as great-grandchildren Jerry, Jeremiah, Mahogany, and Layla. Phyllis is also survived by a large extended family, including many cousins, friends, and loved ones who will miss her dearly.
A visitation for Phyllis will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home, with her Celebration of Life service to follow at 2:00 PM. A committal service will be held at 3:00 PM in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Phyllis’s family and friends find comfort in knowing that she is at peace, and her legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering honesty will live on in their hearts.
