I was so sorry to hear of the passing of your husband, Mike. I never had the opportunity to meet him, but I have heard his name forever.  I just finished reading all of the condolences that people have left about him. It sounds like you were a very blessed lady to have such a wonderful person in your life, and he as well. I haven’t seen you in years but I have kept up with you and it sounds like you have had a wonderful life with Mike. Please accept my condolences.  I’m sending prayers to you and your family for peace and comfort. 🙏

Every moment with my Dad was unforgettable....

One of my favorite memories though was when I was about 8 months pregnant with Cj, and I had begged and begged Dad to take me out on the harley cause he was selling it and I loved riding. So of course I finally gave in and said fine but your Momma won't like it so we'll have to sneak out.... heheheh
So Dad rolled the bike out of the garage down the driveway and I climbed my huge pregnant self on the back,,, right when Dad started the bike here's comes my Mom... Yikes!!! Dad said no worries I'll go slow and off we went we rode all around Seagoville with my huge pregnant belly, my mom was sitting on the porch when we got back fuming.  The was the last time I got to ride the Harley with my Dad...

Mike was a special friend to me. I've known him since Jr. High & we graduated together with many other friends from Seagoville High School Class of '77. He always entered the room with that friendly smile & anxious to give you a big warm bear hug. I regret not spending more time with him over the years but certainly look forward to seeing him again. 
Mike loved Michelle & his family unconditionally. RIP my sweet friend. You will be missed for sure. 

Thank you for your years of Service Mike. You were an essential part of the team's mission here at the District. 

I had always heard about Mike from my friend , his wife Michelle, at work, every day we would talk about our husbands. I would talk to her on the phone and hear him in the background and I’d say “oh tell Mike that Rosyrose said hi”! We would chuckle about it. Then one Friday evening, I was sitting in Texas Roadhouse and Mike sits down next to me. I looked at him and laughed and said “you look mighty familiar, you’re the infamous Mike”! And he said, “well so do you Rosyrose Hill”, and Michelle goes “oh my goodness, you two finally meet”. We continued to chat and laugh the rest of the evening time. I had only physically met him that one time, but I felt like I had known him forever.  It was truly wonderful getting to know him. 

This was my Pawpaw but in reality he was really my dad. He was the only father I have ever had. I think back to the days when he was working Construction in Seagoville, I would sit on his lap when he dozed fields getting ready to put in subdivisions. He would teach me everything there was about the heavy equipment that he knew even though I was just a little boy. And all the days him and I spent teaching me to drive. All the trips back and forth from my high school back to the house, so he felt save with me driving that far. All he did was care for the family. The family always came first to him. There will never be a day that I won’t miss him, I would not be half the man I am today without him. I love you Pawpaw 

I've known Mike since we were kids...our mothers were friends. 
An early, funny memory that stands out for me happened when were in the 5th or 6th grade. For a few years, the Huddleston family lived just up the road from us in Kleberg.  Mike and his brother both had mini-bikes, and they would ride them on the trails that ran thru our neighborhood.  One day, we found a live tarantula in our driveway, so I ran in the house and my momma gave me an old jar (with a lid, lol), and we caught that big, ugly, hairy thing, and put it in that jar!  
We were excited to show it off, so I hopped on the back of Mike's mini-bike, and off we went to his house...to show his mom. 
We went in thru the back door...straight to the kitchen, where we found Bessie...who proceeded to let out a shriek...and then ran us out of the house. Lol! 

Ahhh....to be a kid again... :-)

I can truly say I know what you are going through.  It has been less than two months since I lost Larry.  The pain is strong, the days are long, nights are even harder.  Having memories of the time you shared, the joy you felt, and the family you have
with Mike is what I pray you can focus on.  The love you shared is what I pray you rely on to get you through each day.  

Although we haven’t remained close through the years, when we have seen each other it is obvious you two share a closeness, a bond, and love others long for.

Several months back Mike came to check on the job i was inspecting, which he did often...it was lunch time so we called another co-worker and asked if he wanted to go with is to lunch and he agreed to meet us at the Golden Chick in forney.  We pulled up and as we were walking in together Mike said “yall tell them what you want and ill get it today”.  So my coworker we t to the counter and told them what he wanted and when it came to my turn i told the lady i wanted the 28 piece chicken with a bunch of rolls and sides....about that time Mike almost broke his neck turning to look at me wondering what was going on.  I started laughing...my coworker started laughing...then Mike with his signature smile and laugh started to follow suit.  After several minutes of “arguing” and laughing with Mike about buying lunch we finally got ordered and sat down for lunch.  Mike was always generous and always up for a laugh or a joke.  He was a great “Bossman”..a great man but more importantly he was my friend, and i miss him deeply already.     Please forgive this picture im uploading as this was the goofy Guy i knew. 

I can honestly, with all my heart, say that Mike was truly a wonderful person. He was a wonderful husband. A wonderful Dad, and an amazing PawPaw. There was never a time when I wasn’t met with open arms when I came to Mike & Michelle’s. They both love me just like I was their own. As I write this, tears roll down my cheeks. My heart hurts for every single person that loves him. Heaven has gained a true angel. Until the day we can all be together again.... We love you Mike. You will be missed every day & every day you will not be forgotten.... A. G. Mason

Mike was always such a very nice guy. I have many memories of him, Chuck and Mickey being together. I always called them the three stooges. There was no telling what they would come up with. Now I can picture them all together laughing. What a reunion that must have been. RIP Mike you will be greatly missed.


                                 Something To Think About

Someday in time, the time will come
When our scheduled time is complete,
An event that we hope we're prepared for

I don't necessarily have a favorite memory all of them are because I always loved being around him. I always liked when we rode around to kill time or to go get food for Nana. There wasn't a favorite memory I only favor the time spent with him. He hung the moon for me. He was my father figure. He was always around and I loved when he came around because there was no time that I remember that me and him didn't have a good time. We would always laugh and cut up. He wasn't just my pawpaw he was my best friend. I'm going to miss him.

Time is passing quickly sometimes just to damn fast

Valentines day is here once again

I always have loved Mike.  He had the greatest smile.  I was blessed to teach his grandson, Dalton, when he was in the 4th grade.  I always appreciated the way that Mike and Michelle supported Dalton.  I know that Dalton adored his grandfather.

Mike loved his family dearly and will truly be missed by all that knew him.  Prayers for you all.

My husband and I met Mike years ago! His grandson Cody played on the same team with my son Hunter.  I remember the red mustang! Him and his wife are amazing people!! My prayers are with you Michelle!!!

I met Mike when he was working for McCarthy and always thought of him as a straight shooter. I was happy when he came to work for the District. Good men are hard to find! They say you take a little part of everyone you know and I’m glad I get to take a part of Mike with me. He was a easy going soul and I considered him a good friend. His sudden passing is hard to believe! I wish your family peace and understanding at this sorrowful time.

Dedication of the Wayne Phillips Agricultural Science Center!

Like many of others right now, I was shocked and saddened at the news of Mikes Stroke and passing. The one thing I will always remember is his Smile and Grin! Mike grew up down the street from me so there were a lot of old times just hanging out talking about everything with friends and neighbors too, Melvin Bonner & Mickey Kirby. They were in the class behind me. I was Class of 76 and they were Class of 77. Memories of
Football in the street, fun and pranks all the time.
This one memory truly made me smile this week. One I had forgotten. I am guessing we were walking home from Jr High school and for some reason these guys didn't have football practice that day so we all walked home together in a group. I cannot remember who all was with us other than for sure the 3 M Amigo's, Mike, Mickey and Melvin.  It had rained and the creek that ran beside the Huddlestons home was pretty full. Being Fall the water was pretty cold. Those boys said lets walk across the creek. Come on "Bones" ,(my nickname), walk with us. Well, I saw them taking taking off their socks & shoes and rolling up their pants legs.  So I thought ok no big deal. They waited for me to do the same. Bones, one of them called out, which I think was Mickey, you go first in case we have to catch and save you! Ok cool I thought. I step in and that water was cold. I start walking across and hear them laughing! I turn and look, the M Amigos, walking on the Street to cross the creek. Me, I am in the water!!! Pranksters. The water wasn't deep but cold. (Don't try this... we never thought of the danger). We all played in that creek from time to time. But they Never let me forget Crossing the Creek in that water. I loved all three of these guys. Sweet friends forever.
Prayers for Michelle, Bessie, Brandon and all of this sweet family. Love y'all! 

It is hard to think its real that Mike is gone from this world. One week we are interviewing inspectors and lunching together then the next week it all becomes memories. Mike worked for me for 8 years and was always a great guy to work with. He earned respect from his team of inspectors, contractors and actually everyone that worked with him. Mike enjoyed his work and it showed. I would have to make him take off because he was afraid he was going to miss something on one of his projects.  He was so good natured and took jokes well and would throw some out himself when he had the chance. He got the nick name “Silver Fox” from the guys and he’d just laugh. I am sure going to miss him and he is definitely going to leave a huge void in our team. I can’t wait to meet up with you again!

One day just me and paw paw were sitting on his couch petting chewy and it was so different because nana wasn’t on the other couch and cj wasn’t there it was just me and him and he looked over at me and said “Joey I want you to know that I think you going to be an amazing daddy to that baby Hudson you chose a nice strong name for your little boy “ and all I could think was he’s going to have an amazing paw paw.I will tell him all the story’s I know of him and tell him how awesome he was.

One of my favorite memories of sweet Mike was the year Dalton’s team made it to Globals with The Pumped Up Pirates. I know it’s hard for a man to lend his tools but thankfully he let the team use whatever they needed. No telling how damaged the drill bits or pipe cutters became! He probably wasn’t jumping for joy that the kids used the good Cedar he was saving either. But, he hauled stuff around and loaned those kids anything they needed. I loved his easy smile and quiet laugh, but most of all, I loved the way he looked at his wife and family. Godspeed, Mike!

I don’t even know where to start. I can still hear his voice in my head calling me “sissy” and “sissy girl.” I don’t think that nickname will ever be the same again coming from anyone else. I know he was always so proud of me every step of my education, and I’ll carry that with me always.

 He was always the first person to call and check on me when something happened. He’s been one of the most steady and reliable people in my life for as long as I can remember. To say he’ll be missed is an understatement. Dilly Dilly, Uncle Mike! 

I have so many memories of my brother,but this 1 is 1 of my favorites. Daddy an Momma bought me a gold nugget bracelet for Christmas,not long after that I lost the bracelet.
I was so upset knowing they were gonna be disappointed that I lost it an mentioned to Mike what happened. The next day he came over an came in my room an handed me a box. I opened it an it was another bracelet identical to mine. He didnt want Daddy disappointed in me so he saved me. This happened a few more times in my life. I was blessed with the best brother a girl could ask for an I'm sure gonna miss him.

I guess my first memory I only had met him one other time the day I married his little sister sweetpea he walked up to me handed me his keys and said run you don't know what your getting into lol I don't regret it one bit we worked together cried together will miss my brother

I have a ton of memories with Mike! I honestly couldn’t choose one. I love him with all my heart. 

Mike as I sit here typing this it’s hard and I’ll admit it isn’t without a tear we had some awesome and crazy times growing up all of them might not have turned out for the best but what memories from the trips to 2nd Avenue to sneaking into the Linda Kay with me in the trunk to our crazy trips to Vegas where we took the wrong turn and ended up on the road the the penitentiary with the guard house guards having their machine gins down on us. Man it hard to believe when I saw you two weeks ago and you had to pull that silly mask down so I would know it was you that would be the last time I saw you on this earth man I love ya and thanks For the ride of a lifetime. Thanks for the great memories in high school.    So many fun times after football games, Travis Street, Longhorn Ballroom and too many others to mention.  I loved growing up in a small town with a small class where you knew everyone’s name and you made friends that lasted a lifetime.   Enjoyed reuniting planning reunions and of course Taco Tuesday’s.    I will miss Mike and his ability to make you feel like he was genuinely glad to see you when ran in to each other. Michelle, many prayers for you and the family.   

Mike was always the life of the party!  He would light up a room when he entered.  In high school he would joke around and give everyone nicknames.  He gave me the name of “Tree” because I was the tallest girl in the class.  He was always the first one to come over and give me a big hug whenever I would see him.   My daughters fell in love with Mike the short time that they got to know him! My youngest daughter married Mike’s grandson, Dalton.  Mike was so proud of his grand children and he was their hero!  Life will not be the same now! I’m going to miss his big smile, funny jokes and contagious laugh but I know I’ll see him again in heaven!  

I’m so saddened to learn of Mike’s passing. I haven’t seen him in over 40 years, but I have clear happy memories of when I had the privilege of being his teacher and coach at Seagoville High School. He was always pleasant, fun, and hard-working, just a really good kid. RIP.

Mike has been senior inspector on a few projects with me and I've gotten to know him the last few years. At every meeting he was that guy with the smile and soft chuckle. I came to know him as a thoughtful, dependable, dedicated, and compassionate man. He cared for others first and he was the first to look out for his inspectors. Mike was also great at keeping the peace and had such a calming demeanor.  He was my go-to when dealing with challenging issues.  One of which became a running inside joke. We had a project dragged out because the electric company would never come remove this one power pole. It got so bad we let our contractor build around it and poured a driveway with the pole stuck in the middle of it. The joke would go on for about 2 years-- he would drive by the site and next time he talked to me he'd tell me it's still there. Until this May 4, 2021 he texted me "no mo pole in the hole" and a picture of a hole!  Makes me laugh just thinking about it. I'm going to miss his humor, kindness, wisdom, and of course his presence. My family's condolences and prayers to the Huddleston family.  

So I’ve known Mike’s wife since elementary school she was my teacher and I  also went to school with his grandson Dalton and one day Mike and his wife came to my job and in the electronics department, I was the cashier and I said hello to them and said if you needed my help just to holler and Mike asked what my name was and I said Donna and about 10 minutes later I hear Mike yelling DONNA,DONNA and I go back to them and I help them with what they needed and then a couple of weeks later I became him and his wife’s friend on Facebook and  one day my dad asked me how I knew mike and I told him how I knew him and his wife  and my dad had told me that Mike was actually his boss at  work.. it’s a small world and I’m very happy to have meet Mike and it was very sad hearing that he had a passed.

I would like to send my condolences to the family.. Mike will certainly be missed he was a very special kind of people very rare with a good heart, loved by everyone that knew him and certainly comes from good stock.  My prayers will be that God give you all comfort and peace in your hearts during this time .
