Jean Woodard Roach of Troup, Texas, (formerly of Mesquite, Texas) passed away March 1, 2018, at The Heights of Tyler, at the age of 92. She was born August 28, 1925, in Argyle, Texas, to Lenard Hardy and Mattie Lee Rogers Woodard. She graduated from Spring Hill High School on May 21, 1943.
Jean met J. D. Roach when they both worked at Red River Army Depot. They married on September 22, 1945, and 2 sons were born from this union.
Jean worked for S & H Green Stamps and Gibson’s Department Stores in the accounting department. She liked to bowl and bowled until she was in her mid-80’s. She was a good cook and enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking their favorite foods.
She was a member of Valley Creek Church of Christ in Mesquite, Texas.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, J. D. Roach, son, Don Roach, brothers J. C. and Nolan Woodard, and sister, Nell Heifner.
She is survived by son, Ricky and wife Donna, grandsons Rick, Clay and wife Linnea, Todd and wife Tiffany, Randy and wife Mary Roach, granddaughter Leslie Wang and husband Jesse, great grandchildren Bradley, Will, Nick, Reese and Kate Roach, Emma and Katie Kannard, a number of nieces and nephews and extended family.
The family wishes to express thanks to The Heights of Tyler and The Hospice of East Texas for their care, kindness and support.
Visitation with her family will be March 5, 2018, from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., at Roselawn Funeral Home in the Chapel, 1000 South Highway 175, Seagoville, Texas, with services following at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Pat Morris officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Rick Roach, Clay Roach, Todd Roach, Randy Roach, Jason Roach and Jesse Wang. Honorary pallbearers will be Bradley, Will and Nick Roach, and Tim Green.
