Rodney was the eighth child born to George and Julia Yarbrough in Wills Point, TX on September 16, 1943. Rodney attended Seagoville High School, and later married his childhood sweetheart, Barbara Ogletree on September 18, 1964, where they later welcomed four children. Barbara and Rodney shared 59 years of a strong, fruitful and loving marriage.
Rodney served as a firefighter for both Highland Park and Seagoville Fire Department, where he was the first Fire Marshal in the city of Seagoville. He also worked for Steakley Chevrolet, the City of Highland Park and various cattle ranches throughout the years. Rodney was a well known horseshoer. He and Barbara later started a family based catering company, Chuckwagon Chow where the cooking preparation was done authentically, as in the days of cattle drives. Rodney took great pride in his chuck wagon, the fact that he was able to fully restore and utilize it for the enjoyment of others. Together they also opened Seago Welding in 1999 where he continued to work from his own shop until he retired in 2022.
Rodney was a devoted servant to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, steadfast husband, loving father, incomparable Papa and a true friend to all he encountered. He led his family well, where he taught them all the values of hard work, the joy of a good conversation and most of all the importance of loving the Lord with all your heart.
He was an active member of Seagoville Church of Christ where he served as a deacon. Rodney loved the sport of rodeo, one of his most cherished past times was helping kids in the arena. In addition, he held an annual school where he taught and mentored numerous young men the art of bulldogging. He not only mentored in the arena but out of it as well, Rodney’s door was always open to help people. There were many, each were considered family, some would stay for dinner, a week, and others years. Rodney had a passion for history and ancestry. In his spare time he enjoyed having his home full of family and friends, telling stories, and gardening. In his recent years, Rodney and Barbara fully enjoyed their wagons and mules; they would participate in several wagon trail rides each year.
