A Graveside Service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, August 16, 2024 at Roselawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens in Seagoville with Pastor Brent Gentzel officiating.
Ruth was born on December 1, 1925 to Fred and Addie May (Griffin) Hooper in Woodbury, Texas.
She was a longtime resident of Waxahachie and Lewisville, before eventually settling in Kaufman with the love of her life, Charles Prince. Ruth coordinated flight information for pilots during WWII and was an expert markswomen, winning numerous rifle shooting competitions. She later retired to take care of her family whom she loved dearly. Ruth also loved her church and friends at First Baptist Church Kaufman, and lived her life inspired by her lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers (James and Edmund Hooper), sisters (Dorothy Pattison, Olive Howard, and Becky Brown), son (John V Shaw Jr.) and daughter (Nancy Capehart).
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Birdsong, and brother, Frank Hooper, as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
