Martha Carolyn Ramsey

She was born on February 1, 1925 to Arthur J. and Sophia Kingen in Hancock County, Indiana.

Carolyn graduated from McCordsville School in 1943 in a class of 8 seniors. Later in life she took classes at Arizona State University.

Carolyn grew up on a farm in Indiana and was always interested in which mules her dad used to plow in the fields on any given day.

Carolyn married Lawrence F. Ramsey on January 27th, 1943. They have 3 children; Connie, Peggy and Larry.

Carolyn loved her family and always made time to have the children involved in 4-H, sports and work. She took time on Sunday afternoons to take her family on drives in the countryside just to see all the farms and other sights in and around Mesa, Gilbert and Chandler.

She loved to travel and she and Lawrence took lots of trips and vacations. They owned a cabin in Pine, Arizona, and many memories have been made there as a family.

Carolyn worked for the Mesa Public Schools in the Food and Nutrition Department. She started as a dish washer and through the years worked hard as a baker, cook, and manager, and finished her career as Assistant to the Manager of the Mesa School District. She was a natural leader and was elected to be the President of the Arizona Food Service Association where she served for 2 years.

Carolyn was an excellent record keeper-financial and family and kept dozens of personal diaries. She taught this quality to her children. They were blessed with lots of 4-H trips and awards because she cared so much!

Carolyn is survived by two of her children, Peggy Ramsey and Larry Ramsey (Beckie), 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents Teen and Sophia, her husband Lawrence, brother Don, and daughter Connie.

We pay tribute to this remarkable wife, mother, and grandmother. We will miss her very much. She taught us how to love by the way she loved and cared for us.

A visitation will occur Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM, at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery, 401 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85257.

A funeral service for Carolyn will follow from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with a graveside service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
