With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Lee Ann Wise on December 12, 2020. She was the oldest of three children born to Milo and Bernice Strand in Madison, Wisconsin. Following her graduation from Madison East High School in 1953 and Madison College shortly thereafter, she joined the US Navy and served as a nurse. She met Norman Wise, a naval aviator and reconnaissance photographer, while stationed in Florida. They were married in 1957 and had three children. Following her husband’s untimely death in 1961, she relocated to Scottsdale in 1964. She continued her nursing career through volunteer work with a variety of state and local agencies. Her philanthropic work included years of service to Hospice, Meals-on-Wheels, and Interfaith Council. She supported Guide Dogs for the Blind, Easter Seals, Judicial Watch, and the Veterans’ of Foreign Wars. Her religious faith was inspired by her membership in the Shepard of the Hills UCC and the Scottsdale Presbyterian Church. As a voracious reader, her knowledge of the bible and a few hundred other authors was unparalleled.
She is survived by her sister Carlene Morris of Mesa, AZ, children, Michelle (John) Kelly of Chandler, AZ, Mark (Beth) Wise, Happy Jack, AZ, grandchildren, Lacey (Joseph) Holmes, Phoenix, AZ, Ryan (Kailey) Kelly, Nashville, TN, Shawn Kelly, Chandler, AZ, and great-grandchildren, Amaya and Stella Holmes, Phoenix, AZ.
