I met Judy through her friend, Wanda. My wife, children, Father (also Judy's friend) and I went to Judy's house to pick up a donation she made to the Church we go to. Judy was very pleasant and friendly. Her giving nature showed through even though I only met her once. Her giving spirit continues to give in all that she does and did for people and animals.

I first met Judy in 1990 at a "cat rescue" meeting in Scottsdale, AZ. She and I helped rescue 100's of cats and kittens for several years and became close friends. She continued rescuing cats all the rest of her life. 

When Judy and I compared ages, we discovered she was just 10 years older than me. So she kind of took on the role of being like an older sister to me. Watching over me and having me call her when I got home at night because I was still rescuing cats at all hours of the night over the years.  

She has been the toughest person I know taking care of her family, business, and feline friends. 
She loved her family, grand children, and extended family with a huge heart.
She was always proud of them and told me this often and showed it by displaying pictures of her loved ones in her kitchen, den, and on the walls.  

She never would give up when she had a cause. She helped animal rescue organizations all the years I've know her. 

She would cut coupons for me and call me with the latest discounts on pet food, paper towels, and other products she used and knew I'd use too. We often went together to Target and Petsmart to get those huge bargains. Then we'd go to lunch at Olive Garden, Logans, Red Robin, Applebees, or Charlestons. She really liked going to Garcia's Mexican Restaurant in Tempe. She and I would share a small pitcher of margaritas and have a long lunch or early dinner. She knew all these places well and we had so much fun together. She also went with her family to these places too to celebrate Birthdays, Anniversaries, and other events. 

When she told me she had cancer of her liver that had spread to her lungs, I was totally floored. She had not been ill or shown any signs of being sick. It was a total shock to everyone.

She fought so hard and had won the battle because the cancer had left her lungs and her liver was functioning well even though 2/3'ds of it was gone to cancer. 

The hard part about Chemo is that it not only destroys the cancer, it harms the rest of a person's body too. It took its toll on her psyche, strength, and freedom. She was just so tired of fighting and getting weaker and weaker. 

She told me she was going to Hospice and had me take her 14 year old cat, Zoey. (Zoey was her cat for only about 2 years and was a rescue too) She wanted to be sure her 2 indoor kitties would be safe and happy with someone they knew. Sparkle, her other rescue who came to her in a storm on the 4th of July a few years ago, is with another friend, Barbara. 

Once she knew her kitties were safe, including the 3 outdoor ones her sweet kind neighbor is taking care of now, she could then rest and go from there. The good Lord had her in His hands all this time all her life. He now has her in heaven dancing with the Angels. 

I will miss you, Judy, my friend. Zoey is happy and playing with her toys you gave her. She is eating well, and loves watching TV with me at night. She acts like a kitten at times running around and sliding around the corners into the kitchen to visit with Skyler, my 22 year old cat.

I met Judy through animal rescue. She cared deeply about animals, and we did several joint rescues together. I'm sad that she had to go, too young. Yet I'm glad her battle is over and she's reunited with her loved ones who have passed before her (human and animal). She handled her illness with strength and dignity, and was still a supportive friend. I'll miss her. My condolences to her family and friends.

Judy's arduous journey is over and she is at peace. She fought so bravely against her illness.  Our hearts go out to her family and friends who now face a difficult time of healing and exchanging visits for memories.
