John was born in Chicago, IL on January 2, 1928. He moved to Phoenix at the age of nine, and fell in love with the land.
John was married to Audrey on March 10, 1962 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He worked in Meter Reading and Customer Service for 42 years at Salt River Project .
He was a founding member and past president of the Arizona Desert Bighorn Sheep Society (ADBSS) and had a passion for the outdoors, big game hunting, fishing, camping, dutch oven cooking, fossils and natural gems.
He is survived by his wife Audrey, daughters Linda Houzenga and Debbie (son-in-law Bill) Bitter, cousin Jay McCurry, eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life for John will be held on Thursday, November 2nd, 2023 from 1pm - 5pm at 1301 E. San Angelo Avenue, Gilbert, AZ 85234
