J. Wesley Brown Jr. age 90 of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away at Hospice of the Valley Eckstein Center on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. Wes was born in Utica NY on February 9, 1933 to Eleanor and J. Wesley Brown Sr. He grew up in Utica and later Sebring Florida. After graduating from Sebring High School in 1951, Wes started his higher education at Kalamazoo College. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1954 and then later finished his degree after moving to Chicago at Roosevelt University. In 1967 Wes met the love his life Dan Oditt. Wes and Dan later moved to Scottsdale, Arizona. They loved to travel and took many cruises as well as many trips to Europe, Hawaii, Australia, and New Zealand. They both fell in love with Italy making 4 wonderful trips there. They were later married in Scottsdale. For almost 57 years they had a full & wonderful life together. Wes was loved by his amazing family and Dan’s family as well. Wes is survived by his spouse Dan Oditt and 2 Sisters – Joan Lockwood in Scottsdale, and Janet Bee in Tampa, Florida. Also survived by Diana Hammer & Keith Oditt - Dan’s Sister & Brother and their extended families. Wes was loved by all his nieces and nephews: David & Susan Marshall, Jill & Art Graves, Debbie Marshall and her son Scott, Steven & Maureen Marshall and their children Marty & Walter Dean in Wisconsin, Mike and Kayo Bee in Georgia and David & Kelly Duncan also from Tampa. In addition, Wes also had a very close relationship with Dan’s nieces and nephews: Bryan Oditt, Kevin Oditt, Daniel Oditt, Tim Oditt, Amy Stidham and Rebecca Moore. Wes was a very special person who will be missed by everyone he knew.
Services are scheduled for Friday, August 18, 2023, 9:30 am, Green Acres Cemetery, 401 N. Hayden Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85257, Heritage Library. Final placement will take place in the Water Garden, a close walk from the library.
