Herman R. Rosen

Herman R. Rosen, 100, died on January 20, 2022, at Vi at Grayhawk in Scottsdale, AZ where he had lived for many years. Born August 22, 1921 in Hartford, CT., Herm was a graduate of Bryant College in Providence, RI where he studied accounting. The self-proclaimed “luckiest man in the Army,” he served as a Finance Officer during World War II mostly in Bern, Switzerland. After the war he arranged for his fiancée, Vivian Bromberg, to join him in Bern where they were married in 1946. They returned to the states and resettled in Connecticut, first in Windsor and then in West Hartford in 1954.

After a long and successful career as a Certified Public Accountant, Herm merged his CPA firm and retired as a partner with Deloitte, LLP. He and Vivian moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1980.

Herm and Vivian loved to travel and visited countries all over the world. Herm loved to take photographs, not just of the places they visited, but of people from around the world as well.

In December of 2002, they moved to Vi at Grayhawk where Herm’s accounting expertise was quickly put to use as he served on various committees for the community. They both enjoyed the social life at Vi and made many friends there as they filled their apartment with Southwestern bronzes and paintings. Eventually, declining health forced Vivian to move to the Care Center where she passed away in early 2019 after a long and loving marriage of 72 years.

Herm is survived by his two sons, Steven Rosen and his wife Carolyn Hayek of Kirkland, WA, and Gary Rosen and his wife Leslie of Sharon, MA.; four grandchildren, Jonathan Rosen and his wife Sarah, Laura Rosen and her husband, Kyle Vinson; Scott Rosen and his wife Leah; and Jennifer Leone and her husband Evan. In addition, he is survived by ten great grandchildren: Catherine, James, Jeffrey, Olivia, Ryan, Michael, William, Marie, Joey and Kristen.

Funeral and burial will be on Tuesday, January 25 at Green Acres Mortuary and Memorial Park, 401 N. Hayden Road, Scottsdale, AZ.
