Colette was born on August 11, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois to Grace Francis (Schweizer) and Bernard Peter Massoth. On March 3, 1951, she married the love of her life, James Leroy Dayton in Oak Park, Illinois, and had three sons; Craig, Garry and Terry. She worked many years in the family businesses, which included; industrial chemical sales, commercial printing and the family horse ranch known as the J Double Bar D Ranch. Colette enjoyed singing and was a member of local choirs and choral groups. She delighted in baking sweet treats for her family. A big lover of the arts, she enjoyed attending concerts and plays. She was a fan of classic movies and spent time watching Turner Classic Movies.
Colette is preceded in death by her husband Jim, her brother Donald, and her sister Jean. She is survived by her sons Craig Dayton, Garry Dayton, and Terry Dayton, her five granddaughters Jenny, April, Tiffany, Stephanie, and Brynn and her two great-granddaughters Sarah and Avery.
Colette was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend and she will truly be missed.

In lieu of sending flowers, donations can be made in her name to Hospice of the Valley or the American Cancer Society.
