Beverly Jean Burson, known as Jean to most, was called to heaven on Wednesday, December 22nd, 2021, surrounded by her family in the comfort of her daughter's home. She was 86 years of age. Jean was born July 7th, 1935, in Des Moines, Iowa. She was the second of seven children and graduated from Valley High as a proud tiger in the "Class of 53”. Jean was also a member of the Peoria Indian Tribe of Oklahoma.
Jean was united in marriage to Richard E. Burson “Dick” on June 30th,1957, and the two celebrated 57 anniversaries together. Jean and Dick built their life together with their four children in the Des Moines area and, in later years, before retirement, owned and operated the Kone Korner in Knoxville, Iowa.
Jean was a daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother of four, and grandmother to nine. She loved to visit with family, read, and spend winters at her daughter's home in Arizona. Her infectious smile comforted many, and her greatest joys came from her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Burson; her mother, Alice Stowe; sister, Joan Evans (Paul); brothers, Robert Walker and Ronald (Karen) Walker; brother-in-law, Bob Kennedy, and numerous family and friends.
Jean is survived by her children, Brad (Kathy) Burson; Chris Burson; Shelley (Vafa) Matin; Steven (Ioana) Burson; grandchildren Eric Burson; Michelle (Tim) Albright; Zach Burson; Madison Burson; Sara, Sophia, Mitra Matin; Addison and Luca Turan; brother Dave (Barbara) Walker; sisters Dorothy "Sissy" Kennedy and Joyce (Don) Hill; sisters in law Sandra Walker and JoAnn Burson, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held, Friday, January 14th at 2:00 p.m. at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
