Antoinette "Tonee" Elizabeth Boyer

It was a brisk afternoon on the 12th day of November, 1957, that the world was blessed by the arrival of the fourth angel to the union of Dollie and Sylvanius Boyer. That angel was Antoinette Elizabeth Boyer. To her friends and family, she became known as “Tonee”.

As a young child, Tonee was inquisitive and very energetic, on every level. She loved being independent independence and took great pleasure ensuring everyone knew when she was around. Tonee’s life also encompassed some harsh realities but she continued to persevere with the support of her family. Tonee set many goals for herself and one she was especially proud to achieve was an Associates of Arts Degree from Anthem College where she received a certification as a medical assistant. Tonee’s other interest was working as a bartender at various locations throughout Arizona. Tonee tended bar at many Black coalition clubs to include American Legion Post 65, Elks Lodge and the Sportsman Social Club, where she had a huge following. She loved serving others and her presence at the bar was always a welcoming sight. She will be well missed.

Tonee loved to dance and dress up. A bit of a show off, she knew how to put fashion together. Always being slight in weight, she knew she looked good too. She dressed to impress. Not conceited, only convinced. She had no problem being in the spotlight, where she flourished. She loved to cook and Mexican food was her forte. She had a vivid sense of humor and her laugh could light up a room. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and friends. She was a true friend to many, often putting them before herself.

Tonee was the mother of two sons, Brandon Boyer and Sidney Bell. She was also the mother of a beautiful little girl, Taylor, who preceded her in death. As much as she loved her children, she took on the role of grandmother (NaNa) with a force not seen by many. She had 7 grandchildren and made them all feel as though they were her favorite. She loved them fiercely and made sure anyone around knew how special they were to her. The sun rose and set on her love for them.

Tonee returned home on the 7 of August, 2020 and will be truly missed by her family and loved ones.

Tonee was preceded in death by her father and mother, Sylvanius Boyer and Dollie Boyer Diggs; a daughter Taylor Boyer. Tonee leaves behind her step father Robert Diggs, three sisters; Sandee Walker, Sylvia (Mickey) Chewning and Gina Boyer; two sons, Brandon Boyer I, and Sidney Bell II; 7 grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, scores of family and many, many special friends.
