Donna L. Giebler has passed away at the age of 87. A rosary for her will be held Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 5:30 PM at Christ the King Catholic Church, Gering, Nebraska. A Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, May 10, 2024, at 10:30 AM, Gering, Nebraska. An inurnment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Scottsbluff, Nebraska. The service will be live streamed through Christ the King Gering NE YouTube page. In lieu of flowers donations to Donna’s favorite Charities can be made. Born March 28th, 1937, to Leoba and Francis Wiesner in Hays KS. Donna graduated from Girls Catholic High School in 1955. She married Gary Giebler on October 4, 1955. To this union they had six daughters. Mary Pettijohn (Jay) of Loveland CO, Chris (Jim) Reyes of Gering NE, Faye (Eli) Valenzuela of Lincoln NE, Kathy (Troy) Thompson of Hays KS, Denise (Curt) Embree of Lincoln NE, and Amy (Jeff) Martindale of Laramie WY.
Being widowed at an early age, Donna’s faith made her strong. If she knew you, she would pray for you. She made many dear friends over the years that she spent her time with.
Donna obtained degrees from both Western Nebraska Community College and Chadron State. She loved to travel and was an avid reader. Other hobbies included swimming at the Splash followed by coffee with friends. She was passionate about the organizations she belonged to like Keep Scottsbluff-Gering Beautiful, Friend of Lied Scottsbluff Library, Legacy of the Plains, and Valley Christian Neighbors.
Donna is survived by her daughters and their spouses along with 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, sister Pat Staab and brother Frank Wiesner.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gary, parents, sister Mary Scheer and brother Jim Wiesner, and granddaughter Grace Martindale.
