Clara Ellenor Larsen passed away July 6th, 2024, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. There will be no services.
Clara Ellenor Potter Larsen was born April 2, 1938, in Sterling, Colorado, to James E and Clara (Layne) Potter. She joined her older brothers Jim and Hugh in Peetz, Colorado. In 1952, the family moved to Grover, Colorado.
She graduated from Grover High School in 1956 and moved on to graduate from Northeastern Junior College and continued her college education at the University at Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado, graduating in 1961. She taught two years at Wheatridge, Colorado.
She married Guy Larsen June 30, 1963 and moved to Kimball, Nebraska where she taught third grade, Chapter One Teacher, and Special Education. She received her Master’s in Education from Chadron State College. She was a Reading Specialist and Behavior Specialist and taught Pre-Kindergarten.
Music was always an important part of her life and she served as a choir accompanist in Jr. College and at different organizations.
In 2022 she was a 59 year member of the Trinity United Methodist church, singing in the choir and was a member of the Bell Choir.
In 2022 she was a 72 year member of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861-1865, a Charter Member of the Ford Sidney DAR, life member and past President of the NEA and AAUW, Admiral in the Nebraska Navy, and a Kentucky Colonel. She also competed her 40 years of teaching at Cedar Canyon School in Gering, Nebraska.
She is survived by nieces and nephews; Colleen (Michael) Morrison, Liam and Cale of Ohio; Cheryl (Martin) Siderius, James and Kristen of Portland; Hugh Gregory (Ellen) Potter of Portland; Steven (Audrey) Potter, Maggie of Florida; Janet Dunlap and Bale of Washington; and significant other Stephen Greenhalgh of Scottsbluff; and sister-in-law Dorothy Potter of Washington.
She is preceded by her parents James and Clara; Brothers Jim and Hugh; and sister-in-law Frances Potter.
Memorials can be made in her name to the Kimball Library.
