He was the beloved husband of Janet (Shaw) Tooker with whom he shared 55 years of marriage and an even longer friendship.
Born in Havre de Grace, Maryland, he was the son of the late John and Claire (Reiter) Tooker. He was a 1962 graduate of Sewanhaka High School in Floral Park, New York, and went on to complete a degree in English at Brown University and a PHD in English at Boston University.
Stephen was a gifted tenor and a long time member of the Unicorn Singers as well as the tenor soloist in the choir at Old Ship church in Hingham, MA. He was a master gardener and took special pride in his award-winning daylilies, a flower he worked tirelessly hybridizing to create much sought after white daylilies. He and Janet enjoyed traveling with friends especially to destinations such as Egypt and Italy. He worked as a professor of English at Massasoit Community College until his retirement.
He was the devoted father of Jessica Tooker.
