Josephine Rose Gaziano, of Hingham, passed away on January 16, 2022 at the age of 81. Giuseppina “Josephine” Gaziano was born in Aragona, Sicily to the late Francesco “Frank” and Rose Amelia. She immigrated to the United States as a teenager and lived in Waltham, Massachusetts with her parents, and siblings: the late Joe Amelia, Ralph Amelia of Waltham, Lou Amelia of Yarmouth, Mary Riley of Plymouth, and Eddie Amelia of Bellingham. After high school, Josephine met the late Carmelo “Joe” Gaziano, who also came to America from Aragona. They married in 1961 and spent many wonderful years together raising a family in Quincy, Scituate and Norwell. She worked as a bookkeeper for Joe’s plumbing company while running a house filled with laughter and warmth. Josephine will be remembered for her spirited nature and her devotion to her family.
She was the beloved mother of the late Charles Gaziano, and his wife Ruth of Alpharetta GA, Frank Gaziano and his wife Mary Ellen of Scituate, Joe Gaziano and his wife Carolyn of Basking Ridge, NJ, and Karen Keefe and her husband Kevin of Doylestown, PA. Josephine was an adoring nonna to Michael and Matt Gaziano, and Laura Champion, the late Andrea Gaziano, and Cara and Joe Gaziano, Tim, Nicole, and Will Gaziano, and Katie and Matt Keefe. She was recently blessed with two great grandchildren Kate and Mark Gaziano. Also survived by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, and nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate, on Monday January 24, 2022, from 8:30-10:30 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary of the Nativity, One Kent Street, Scituate at 11:00 AM on January 24, following visitation hours. A private family burial will take place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Andrea Gaziano Memorial Fund at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02115. A
