John Raymond Doyle, age 79, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth after a brief illness. Born in Boston, John spent most of his childhood in Weymouth. He was the son of Mary (Friel) and Edward Raymond Doyle who both predeceased him. He leaves his brother Edward Doyle and wife Marie of Bourne, and his brother Paul Doyle of Hyannis. He also leaves his loving nieces and nephews Kerry Stearns of Bourne, Timothy Doyle of North Carolina, Ian Doyle of Maine and Annika Hughes of Washington, as well as their families.
John was a graduate of Weymouth High School and a maintenance contractor for many years, working at several nursing homes. While at work, he established many friendships with the residents and was always willing to have a “nice chat” with them. He became a good friend to many residents and found pleasure in doing any task they would ask of him. He was a jack of all trades and enjoyed working on many projects in his own home.
John loved to fish and appreciated every opportunity to take a boat trip, often spending weekends on his friend’s boat. He always helped his family with home projects and looked forward to sharing a beer after a job well done. John loved his family and they loved him. He treasured the time they spent together. He made functions memorable with his wit and well-told stories. John was never without a joke to make people laugh. He will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 10am at Saint Mary of the Nativity, 1 Kent Street in Scituate Harbor. Interment to follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Meetinghouse Lane in Scituate. The family also plans to hold a Celebration of Life to honor John in Bourne during the summer months.
