Gregory Paul Knoff – 76, of Scituate, MA passed away on the morning of November 19, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Catherine E. (Haun) Knoff, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage before her passing in 2021.
Born in Detroit, Michigan on August 22,1946, he was the loving son of the late Paul and Beverly (Bliss) Knoff. Greg met the love of his life at age 14 as the local paper boy and their love blossomed through the halls of St. Louis High School in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. Greg served in the US Army’s 199th Light Infantry Brigade during Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received during combat. Greg returned home and built a life fueled by faith, love and devotion to his country and family. He earned two masters degrees, one in Business Administration and one in Education from the University of Detroit. Greg had a fulfilling career in Human Resources, recently retiring as Director of Human Resources from Detroit Country Day School, a place he loved where he’s met some of the best people he’s ever known. Greg took up running at the age of 30 and never looked back amassing hundreds of road races, with close to fifty marathons in over 40+ years including 15 Boston Marathons.
Greg was the devoted father of Christie Knoff of Vineyard Haven, Laurie Stanton and her husband Timothy of Wellesley, and Gregory (GT) Knoff and his wife Kelly of Scituate. Cherished “Papa“ of Riley, Grace, Hadley and Andy Stanton, Will and Kinley Knoff. Loving human to furry family Apple, Gigi, Marley, Lou Lou, and George.
Loving brother and predeceased by Gail Line, Gretchen Schulte, Tom Haun, Robert Haun, Larry Haun, and Matthew Haun.
Loving brother and survived by Karen Becker, Janyce and John Bigando, Gary and Carol Knoff, Kirk and Barbara Knoff, Steve and Eileen Knoff, Chris and Leah Haun, Lauren Haun, Sharon Haun, Eileen Haun, Shirley Clarke Whittington and Shannon Haun.
Loving uncle to 29 nieces and nephews whom he adored.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 10:00 am at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate Harbor. Interment to follow at Cudworth Cemetery, Cudworth Road, Scituate.
The family cordially invites you to join them for lunch and fond remembrances immediately following interment at Galley Kitchen & Bar, 95 Front Street, Scituate Harbor.
