Born in Melrose, MA, he was the son of Maryan Freiter and Gertrude (Rouillard) Freiter Moran. Don served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War before completing his college degree in Business Administration at the University of Connecticut. He was part of the Class of 1959. Don worked in the insurance industry for many years, primarily at John Hancock Financial, but his true passion was for the former Camp Clear in Carver MA. He spent many happy years working with the kids over the summer months and improving the camp in the off season. At Camp Clear, he was affectionately known as “Mr. D”. Don was active in his church, enjoyed attending Bible Study and socializing with his many friends there. He was also a fan of the local sports teams, and the UConn basketball teams.
He was the devoted father to Cynthia and her husband Joseph (Sunny) Litchfield of Woodland Park, CO, Gregory and his wife, Sandy, of Dunstable, MA, and Stephen and his wife, Kristen, of Brockton, MA.
He was also the cherished grandfather of Stephen, Bryana, Meaghan, Nicholas, Samantha, Evan and Rebecca.
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and was pre-deceased by his brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 9:30 AM at the North River Community Church, 334 Old Oak St., Pembroke, MA 02359.
