He was the beloved husband of Mary (Costa) Dougenik with whom he shared 35 wonderful years of marriage before she passed in 1997. Tony moved to Florida a few years later and found his loving companion Diane Givens of Palm Harbor Florida. Tony became a heart transplant recipient and was blessed with another 20 years with his family.
He enjoyed traveling, photography, history, golfing, and spending time with his family. Tony was born in Cambridge Mass and was the son of the late Anthony and Mary (Beaulieu) Dougenik Sr. He Graduated from Cambridge High and Latin and joined the United States Air Force. He was an Intelligence Officer in Cryptology. While in the service, Tony and his young family were stationed in Anchorage Alaska during the earthquake in 1964. They were stationed in Key West Florida, and then San Antonio Texas. Tony got orders to go to Vietnam and moved his family to Otis Air Force Base in Bourne Mass to be closer to family before he left. When he returned from Vietnam, he separated from the military and settled in Scituate. Tony joined the Scituate Police Department for 3 years before transferring over to the Scituate Fire Department where he retired after over 20 years.
Tony was the devoted father of John, his wife Debbie Dougenik and Jane, her husband Gordon Ricketts. He was the loving grandfather “Pa” to Julie Boucher; Jennifer, her husband Ricardo Molina, Matthew, his wife Michelle Dougenik, Amanda, her husband Cory Stites, Justin, his wife Jennifer Ricketts. He was the adoring great grandfather “Pizza Pa” to Christopher Boucher, AJ and Sophia Molina, Logan and Lyla Dougenik, Jackson and Madison Stites.
Tony was the loving brother of Marie and Paul White, Leonard “Lenny” and Sally Dougenik, and he was
predeceased by his brother Nelson Dougenik. Tony is also survived by many nieces and nephews who he adored and thought of often.
A visitation will be held at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home 382 First Parish Road, Scituate on Sunday
November 24, 2024 from 3-7pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Monday November 25, 2024 at 10:00am at St Mary of the Nativity Church 1 Kent Street, Scituate.
In lieu of flowers donations in Tony's memory be made to Brigham and Women's Hospital, specifically The Cardiac Transplant Department.
